What is Assisted Living?

Assisted Living is a special combination of housing, personalized support services and health care designed to meet the individual needs of people who need help with activities of daily living, but do not need the skilled medical care provided in a nursing home. Services include help with medication administration, eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, shopping, laundry, etc. Each resident requires varying degrees of assistance. Our approach is ‘assistance when required, service when desired’. Each resident is treated with dignity, and afforded maximum independence according to their level of need and desire.

What is Memory Care?

Memory Care is a specialized form of care for those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia related to memory impairment. Our Memory Care communities can be a wing of a larger community or a stand-alone community. Both are secure and exclusively devoted to the care and service of those with memory impairment. All staff are specially trained to work with memory care residents. A separate license is required for this program, and everything from activities to meals and entertainment is geared toward the very unique needs of these residents. Affinity Living Group created the NorthStar Memory CareTM Program, which was designed to help those with Alzheimer's and related diagnoses achieve their "best life."

What is Independent Living?

Also known as Senior Retirement Housing, Independent Living at Affinity is a community offering individual, fully functional apartments for residents in a community setting where meals may be shared and other social activities provided.

Independent Living can make a huge difference to you or your loved one, including:

  • Housing and care support,
  • Person-centered services in a community setting with similar individuals,
  • More choice and control for residents, and
  • New opportunities to play an active, full part in family, community, and civic life.

How do you pay for services?

Everything is included in the monthly fee depending upon the level of services (assisted living, memory care, or independent living). There is an admission agreement which spells out all the services and conditions of residency. Private payment, insurance, and Medicaid are all accepted depending upon community and availability.

Is transportation available?

Yes, transportation is provided for medical appointments, shopping, and planned outings and social events.

What about meals?

All meals are included (available for Independent Living residents), breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Plus, snacks are offered along with special cookouts and events during the month. And, there are private dining rooms to accommodate family visits and guests who may want to join residents for meals and special occasions.

Are resident rooms furnished?

Residents may bring their own furniture, or we’ll provide furnishings. Towels, bed linens, and window coverings are available, too. These items are optional, depending upon the resident’s choice.

Is housekeeping provided?

Yes, housekeeping and cleaning services are provided.

What about laundry?

There is an on-site commercial laundry service. Plus, resident washers and dryers are available for those residents who wish to do their own laundry.

Are there activities?

Our activities programs are coordinated by an Activities Director at each of our communities. From Bingo games to educational programs, sing-a-longs to arts and crafts, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Gardening, dance lessons, church services, and socials keep our residents as busy as they would like. Exercise classes are tailored to our residents' fitness levels, from Sittercise to Jazzercise. Plus, concerts, shopping trips and other outings are scheduled every month. Each community has a busy calendar, developed with input from our residents. Which makes taking a break on a bench in the courtyard, or rocking on one of the porches, an even more relaxing time in-between!
